Infragram: the Infrared Photography Project

Public Laboratory has done it again with their newest kickstarter, an affordable infrared camera! This in combination with their balloon mapping kit could allow anyone to do remote sensing. There are only three levels but all of them net you the end product; an infrared camera! For only $10 they will send you a DIY kit, for $35 an infrared webcam, and for $95 you get the whole camera. Check it out!

The significance of this is that infrared shows the health of vegetation because it is a band that is reflected by chlorophyll. The more chlorophyll in a plant the more infrared and the healthier the plant. This can even be used by amateur geek gardeners to gauge the health of their crops.

Luckily 2 days in and the project is almost funded so it looks like this will become a reality. 42 days left to pre-order you infragram
